2016 Season

by John on Mar.26, 2016, under Event Calendar and Updates

PSI Proformance does nothing small.  A completely fabricated V Band turbo setup will redefine the power delivery for the Evo.  New data logging, and weight savings will make help us dial in the car dramatically throughout the season.  Help from AIM, and Sparco, combined with PSI know how will be a great combination.

Big news this season,  we’ll be racing with Pirelli.  Pirelli has developed a new DOT R racing tire, the Trofeo R, which looks to be a great competitor.  We’ve been working closely with Pirelli through the off season and are looking very forward to getting their tire on track as things warm up.

A big season in front of us.  With three NASA NE regional championships under our belt, the competition will be fierce.  Check out www.NASANE.com for event details, or watch here for upcoming races.  Either way, don’t miss the opportunity to get up close and personal with the cars and drivers!

Big Changes!

by John on Jan.08, 2014, under Projects and Modifictions

After a shortened 2013 season we determined it was time to strengthen key components of the car, including the transmission, leveraging Shep Transmission and the motor. A complete rebuild was in order. At about 160 hours the Evo X engine has been running strong but instead of waiting for a thrown rod, this seemed a good time to upgrade those key elements. This will allow for significant tuning flexibility, allowing us to better set the car up against very stiff competition from the Corvette contingency. More to come!

Thanks for your continued support.

Watkins Glen!

by John on Sep.19, 2013, under Event Calendar and Updates

After a brief hiatus we are back in the game and preparing for Watkins. A fantastic track, it will be a great opportunity to assess the improvements to the car. Thanks to EFI Logics, Shep Transmissions and Goodyear for working so hard to get us back in the seat for this important event. Meet us there at the EFI Logics tent!

Press Release – Season Results

by John on Jan.23, 2013, under Racing Results

The following press release was prepared by our sponsors and released over the wire. Excerpts have been posted here: http://paddocktalk.com/news/html/story-212922.html and I suspect we’ll see additional write-ups soon. Here is the complete text:

ROBBINS SEEKS THIRD STRAIGHT NASA REGIONAL TITLE

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. (Jan. 8, 2013) – When he changed from John Robbins, race car driver, to John Robbins, regional champion, it wasn’t time to sit in an easy chair and enjoy the off season.
Robbins, who works in the finance industry, will spend the winter months working closely with EFI Logics (Bethel, Ct.) on the 2008 Mitsubishi Evolution X racer that they campaign throughout the Northeast, trying to find more speed.
“Everyone in my class will be looking for an edge over the winter,” Robbins said recently. “We can’t take any time off.”
Robbins won the 2012 NASA Northeast Time Trial Series championship, winning three times and posting three track records. His wins and records came at the New Jersey Motorsports Park (twice) and at Pocono Raceway. He had several non-winning podium finishes as well.
“You can’t win a championship in the winter time, but you sure can lose one then,” Robbins said. “We have to keep after the technology, build up the parts inventory, update the safety equipment and make sure the car is set up for the entire season. I’ll work side-by-side with EFI Logics, Boosted Racing, Girodisc, Moroso, Full Race and other industry leaders to get the car just right. We have to be completely ready from the first race on, and that takes preparation and coordination.”
It is a champions’ lament. The work never stops. But, as is true in every sport, it is a lot easier to win a title once than it is to stay on top. Robbins knows all about the demands of defending a title because his 2012 championship was his second straight. He won nine times in his 2011 campaign.
The NASA Northeast Time Trial class will change names in 2013 to Time Trial 2, but Robbins said the competitive challenge will remain the same.
“NASA Northeast has developed a great and very competitive Time Trial series and the field of competitors and quality of the hardware has grown considerably over the past several years. It’s hard to win one of these things,” he said. “Winning three straight will take some work.”

2012 TTS Championship!

by John on Jan.23, 2013, under Event Calendar and Updates

The results are in and we have again won the NASA Northeast Regional Championship. This past season was incredibly demanding and competitive and this success was really a collaborative effort. EFI Logics, Boosted Racing, Moroso, Girodisc, Essex, APR, Yonaka, Enersys, KW, Seibon, Full-Race all played a key role in generating these results. As the season progressed and the number of competitors increased while lap times decreased, the demand was not just on on track performance but also on consistency. Keeping the car at its absolute edge was a critical factor and really defines the difference between having a lucky fast lap and producing great results event after event. We are very fortunate to be allied with these industry leaders and can’t thank each of them enough for their support and commitment. More soon as we prepare for 2013′s season.
